How does AI (Artificial Intelligence) work?
Q. AI as in Artificial Intelligence. For example the terminator bots. I know it isn't that advanced yet but one day there could be. Anyways how does it work. I'll be disappointed with "a giant database of answers" but if that's the answer.

A. I can tell you that AI is based on an evolutionary algorithmic model, such as genetic algorithms. Essentially it's about a piece of software that learns to improve itself. For example, a genetic algorithm written to solve an equation keeps re-running itself, on each run it improves the precision of the result (the proper term is the 'quality' of the result) thus 'learning from its mistakes'. Advanced AI programming involves even adding new variables into the algorithm on each re-run thus gradually increasing complexity.
