A. the Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th to the 17th century, beginning in Italy in the Late Middle Ages and later spreading to the rest of Europe. the term is also used more loosely to refer to the historic era, but since the changes of the Renaissance were not uniform across Europe, this is a general use of the term. as a cultural movement, it encompassed a rebellion of learning based on classical sources, the development of linear perspective in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform. traditionally, this intellectual transformation has resulted in the Renaissance being viewed as a bridge between the Middle Ages and the Modern era. although the Renaissance saw revolutions in many… [cont.]

A. Pre-packaged cuisine. Gourmet dinner packs for people on the go. Offering the compliment food and wine. Smaller personal sized (wine glass sized) or sized for two. Snack packs with bread, cheese, meat and wine. Perfect for lawn concerts and picnics. Basically, look at the market. When and where do people drink wine... What else do they shop for when they buy wine to compliment it. Make it easier for them to do what they are already doing by creating packs, cross promotional tie-ins or whatever you can to provide a convenience to the consumer when they buy your product. Take the guess work out of which wine is good with which food. Best to you!

A. I have ceramic ones on my first 6 front teeth. Cosmetically is the biggest difference. Also the ceramic brackets are a little bit bigger than the metal ones. They also cost a little bit more but not too much.

What relationship exists between technology and scientific innovation?
Q. Advances in cell theory were totally dependent on the invention of the microscope. While there was indirect evidence for cells, we needed an apparatus to view them. It is likely that someone else would have invented the microscope later, but the advances in cell theory would have only come after this invention. Q. Is an innovation a change over something that's been invented?
Asked by denniscla - Sun Mar 30 23:31:01 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Innovation has nothing to do with marketing directly. Nor does it have anything to do with an invention directly. You can innovate in any field or anything withhout an invention in sight (see Starbucks below). Simply put, when you innovate, you introduce an improvement in something. The innovation can be tiny or huge. It can be simple or complex. Starbucks has brougth decent coffee to masses of people. That's a simple innovation but on a large scale. Apple introduced the iPod which is a portable digital media player ... plays MP3 audio files. MP3 is an open standard audio file format. So Apple did not "invent" anything but they innovate by packaging existing technology in a way that allowed people to enjoy their MP3s on the move. That… [cont.]

In terms of "revolutionizing" an industry or how a product is brought to market, the following entities come to mind: Applied Minds (Glendale, CA) A think tank and innovention company, noted for their speech scrambler product (Babble), an online search and collaborative system (Metaweb), and other innovations. idealab (Pasadena, CA) These people are best known as a startup incubator and venture capitalist firm. A. I think that when we go from company to company, it is essential to ask the fist starter questions like who you are and what brought you here. As an on-line interprenuer, I am also learning and discovering that no what where I opt in to apply or just check it out. The first thing they want to know is your demographics. Because we are dealing with public and private companies that are into the network of on-line marketing. I think for safety measures this protects us. A. Well if the list you gave is the greatest technological advancements we've had in the last decade, we as a civilization are royally screwed. I would say the implement of Ethanol as a major use for a oil alternative. It was started in the 60's but in the 90's new technology put it into plants and begun on the path to getting all country's off of oil and onto a more sustainable and healthier alternative fuel.

Q. I have to do an assignment of an area of science that has shown little or no innovation in Australia but ideas about areas internationally would be good too. It has to be something that I am familiar with so something to do with biology maybe but any suggestions would be a great help. I also have to suggest ways in which innovation could be boosted in this industry and the bennefits it would have on that industry and the Australian economy. Any ideas would be REALLY helpfull. Thank you in advance.

A. Since Science is/should not be subject to entrepreneurship or innovation, those being aspect of business and technology (which is the application of science) it is a bit tough to bring it to focus - especially when the places it has been done seem a bit obnoxious - like the Genome race.

A. I don't know if I can help you with an innovation 'cycle', but I might be able to shed some light on your subject. In the early days of avation, there wasn't technology available to record what an aircraft was doing prior to an accident, so the engineers were left scratching their collective heads wondering what caused the problem. As technology and aircraft progressed, they began installing flight data recorders that recorded a certain number of parameters during a flight on a looped 30 minute tape. In other words, the recording holds only the last 30 minutes of data no matter how long the flight was before the event. They also required cockpit voice recorders to be installed for the same reasons. It too, only records the last 30… [cont.]

Why is it important to have a vision and goals for change and innovation?
Q. Why is it important to have a vision and goals for change and innovation and to communicte them to those involved? within a business environment
Asked by Sam - Wed Jul 8 14:52:51 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It gives workers something to work for and have a sense that they're not just turning in circles. Also, the point of a company is to provide some service so managing the business would be based on providing the service, the goal, of the company. Also, a vision is what a company is trying to accomplish, like supplying the world with new technology etc. Innovation is what keeps investors who supply the company with capital (money basically) happy and feel their money is going to be returned in large amount or amounts that satisfy them (why they invested in the first place). Change keeps a company level with its competition and keeps the company afloat. So, it keeps a company running from a worker's goal to the funding of the company.

An important scientific innovation rarely makes its way by gradually winning over and converting its opponents?
Q. An important scientific innovation rarely makes its way by gradually winning over and converting its opponents: What does happen is that the opponents gradually die out.- Max Planck. What is your view on this?
Asked by AALUNGA - Thu Jan 14 02:33:39 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's just a way to emphatically make the point that people, even scientists, are stubborn and are invested in their own egos. It's not true. Quantum physics. Inflationary cosmology. Tunneling. String theory is just the opposite. Its pursuit has swallowed up the majority of theoretical physics research (and funding) even before it is known whether it's even a viable theory. Still, it's a cute way for Dr. Planck to express his frustration with his opponents.

Asked by I Q M - Mon Jun 29 16:41:15 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Probably the most important innovation was Henry Ford's use of the assembly line and mass production. It tremendously increased productivity, making his automobiles much more affordable for the common man. This philosophy was adapted to many other factories. The ability to mass produce was an important factor in the Allies winning World War II. We could replace material much faster than Germany or Japan could. Hope this helps.

Are we suffering because Big Science universities stifle innovation and new thought?
Q. Einstein was a patent clerk when he proposed Special Relativity. Today, he wouldn't even get noticed because he lacked the creditibity that is doled out by the "scientific establishement" hack machine that only rewards saying what the politically correct want to hear, and punishes anyting that offers innovation and creativity. Something to think about. Time to stop punishing our genius and letting our science be defined by the people who win by being the least creative and the biggest hacks.
Asked by William K - Wed Dec 9 10:26:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I thoroughly disagree. Universities in the U.S. are on the cutting edge when it comes to scientific development and innovation; the advances in a variety of scientific fields since Einstein have been remarkable. We consistently rack up more Nobel Prizes than other nations do. And might I point out that Einstein wasn't able to get an academic appointment back in the early 20th century? European universities and educational systems back then offered far fewer opportunities for young scholars than our schools do today. It was this country -- and specifically the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton -- that offered Einstein the scope and freedom for further study while placing few obligations on him. The Institute continues to do… [cont.]
