Creative nonfiction (also known as literary or narrative nonfiction) is a genre of writing that uses literary styles and techniques to create factually accurate narratives. Creative nonfiction contrasts with other nonfiction, such as technical writing or journalism, which is also rooted in accurate fact, but is not primarily written in service to its craft. As a genre, creative nonfiction is still relatively young, and is only beginning to be scrutinized with the same critical analysis given to fiction and poetry.

What's a good magazine to submit my article to?
Q. I'm writing a creative nonfiction article over the earliest memory i have of when me and my friends were building a fort and and how we have drifted apart over the years. I'm supposed to send it to a magazine company to try and get it published. Any ideas?

A. there is a book at the library called writers mkt that lists magazines plus what they renumerate give your story online to a few dozon of them you might meet an editor with a page filling requirement which makes your narrative an opportunity if you want people to think on your idea though Id consider doing it as a voice with a youtube video of attractive women a hundred K views is less than a big magazine yet I think most people could get that or much more with youtube

Is a college degree needed to successfully write & publish nonfiction?
Q. By trade, and love, I am focused & formally educated as a certified massge therapist and practice, & teach basic classes, in qigong. Although Ive taken random community & university college courses over the years, I have never actually finished a college degree. Have mostly taken courses of interest, and sometimes courses I was told I should take & often left before finishing due to becoming sick for weeks numerous times or simply lack of interest in the subject ( math & sciences especially ). Friends & acquaintances have suggested I should write a book, apparently related to being fairly curious, sensitive / perceptive & thoughtfully expressive in ways about some areas of being. Though as far as writing a book, I've never even… [cont.]

A. I don't think you have to have a degree to publish nonfiction. If you have a sound knowledge of your topic, and are passionate enough about it to continually learn more you should be fine. Good luck :)
