A. A pill that would make you 50% less drunk in 20 minutes. You can set up a vending machine in bars and nightclubs. Charge 15 grand per vending machine, and allow the pill to be sold for $5 each. This was actually a real scam from a few years ago. No one seemed to ask if this pill was real. And many people were conned into buying the vending machines. They also had to pay the bars a space rental fee to place the machine in the bar. It was a great idea - hope you take this one. (The class does not have to know it was a scam). /

What invention made men instead of women the primary food providers?
Q. I'm doing a take home history test and this is one of the questions: "What invention made men instead of women the primary food providers?" We are studying the whole prehistory hunter gatherer part of history, and I'm not really sure what it is. Thanks for taking the time to read/answer.

A. I suppose you could say the weapon (axe, spear, or some such). If you are scavenging or gathering plants the strength differential between men and women makes little difference. Once you are using weapons, the difference in strength between men and women makes men more effective hunters because they have the power necessary to hunt large animals, or animals that run away.

Q. I have an invention for babies, and I want to patent my idea, but I'm afraid of any company I work with may steal my idea? What's the best way to protect myself so that the moment I reveal my invention, it is safe?
Asked by DogLover - Fri Jul 18 10:24:37 2008 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments

A. To protect your rights to the invention, you can file a patent application first, before talking about it to any companies. You can either do that yourself or hire a patent attorney to help you. Check out It explains how to file a patent, and how patents protect your rights.

Q. How did the invention of the printing press affect literature and the spread of ideas during the Italian Renaissance?
Asked by margaritafelicity - Tue Apr 1 05:48:44 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Before the printing press was invented the only people that could afford any type of book were very rich people (not that there was a ton of literature at this point). The printing press made books more affordable. But even bigger than that was the boom in literature created - before the majority of ALL literature had to do with the Roman Catholic church. Monks re-copied entire works - the most popular being the Bible, it would obviously take a very long time. Not to mention it would have been written in Latin. It wasn't until the printing press and Martin Luther came along that the Bible was out in languages OTHER than Latin. When other could read the Bible for themselves that is when they started disagreeing with the church (Martin… [cont.]

How did the invention of the light bulb impact work and life?
Q. I am just gathering a little information about the Industrial Revolution and how Thomas Edison's invention of the Electric Light bulb impacted, more like CHANGED, the life and work of people living in that time. Thanks to people who help out x
Asked by krisroxman - Wed Nov 4 08:03:21 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The big change was the lengthening of the work day. Prior to the light bulb you could use say an oil lamp, but they really don't put out a lot of light. With a light bulb, now you can light a factory brightly day or night. It obviously also improved the lighting even in the daytime for a large factory.

Q. I have a few invention ideas I know I can make money off of, but everywhere I look to get my idea out there wants $10,000 to start off. Where can I go to get my idea out without having a fortune to start with?

A. First you need to patent your invention. Have you done that? If not you need to contact a Patent Attorney. You do not want someone to steal your invention, because they will if they are given a chance to do that. Once you have the patent you can sell the patent to a corporation or get venture capital funding to start your own company. I will give you the experience of one of my colleagues. One of my colleagues patented an idea. He received an offer of $2,000,000 for his patent from a corporation active in that industry. He also received offers from several venture capitalists to fund him to start his own company. He chose to go with the venture capitalists because if he was successful the company that he created could have been… [cont.]

However, have her go through her day with a notepad in hand...what are things that she can't stand doing because they are either taking too much time or effort??? From here, can she find "new" ways of doing "if" it were done with... Like...rounded floor inserts that fit into corners & are paintable to make sweeping/vacuumming easier??? Feng Shui folks would Looove this!!! PS. I'd appreciate 2% of future sales on that idea!!! LOL Lots of luck on the project!!!

A. The direct impact is that it made is making the world a smaller place. Jet propulsion enabled us to travel longer and faster, effectively bringing people closer. Speed and efficiency of transportation makes commodities better in cost and quality. In terms of human transportation, jet propulsion saves time and money. There are a few adverse effects like noise and atmospheric pollution, but the overall benefits gained by using jet propelled vehicles outweigh these.

Asked by Markus O - Mon Oct 19 10:39:27 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The first thing you should do is document your idea (ie. write it down). Not just a sentence or two. You should write something called a patent disclosure. It doesn t need to be a novel, but take some time to think through some of the details, including how your device is made. And even if you can t draw more than stick figures, make a few sketches. Ideally, this is done in a bound notebook with pre-number pages which are available in any office supply or stationary store. The written description should enable someone with expertise in the field, to make and use your product. Every time you work on your device, note it in your notebook, with dates. Update your notebook with new entries relating to any new developments, analyses, tests,… [cont.]
