An encyclopedia (also spelled encyclopaedia or encyclopædia) is a comprehensive written compendium that holds information from either all branches of knowledge or a particular branch of knowledge. Encyclopedias are divided into articles with one article on each subject covered. I have the 14th edition from 1964, which i got for 5 dollars along with about 30 year book editions at a library sale, and I noticed the old Britannicas have, what looks like, a pineapple on the sides.
